Mildly amusing story about the Head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, appointed by President Obama, who wrote an academic paper a few years ago advocating ‘cognitive infiltration’ of conspiracy groups:
Cass Sunstein, a Harvard law professor, co-wrote an academic article entitled ‘Conspiracy Theories: Causes and Cures,’ in which he argued that the government should stealthily infiltrate groups that pose alternative theories on historical events via ‘chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine’ those groups.
Isn’t that brilliant! What do we do about people who think we’re secretly spying on them and trying to subvert them? We spy on them, and attempt to subvert them!
Other suggestions from Cass Sunstein included ending racism by ensuring only black people are allowed to become President from now on, ending the terrorist threat with the preemptive demolition all the world’s skyscrapers, and reducing Government debt by spending vast mountains of money.
